A friend of mine owns a ZTE T84, also known as Telstra ThoughMax. Unfortunately, he dropped the phone and broke the screen, which resulted in a touch screen that does not respond. The screen itself works.
Meanwhile, he has bought a new phone, but still wants to restore all his contacts from the old phone. So I promised to take a look.
At first, I verified his Gmail account with him to verify if all his contacts were backed up in that account, unfortunately, that was not the case.
I can connect the phone to a PC and it is connected in PTP mode, which gives the possibility of copying all the photos, but not the rest of the data stored in the phone.
Then I tried to use an OTG cable with a connected mouse, unfortunately, this also did not work, because the phone does not work like a USB host.
After that, I ended up trying things through the recovery mode menu. I tried accessing the device through adb, but it does not appear there. It seems that USB debugging is not enabled. I noticed that when choosing "apply ADB update", it connects and appears in ADB devices as load load. But I can not use adb shell from there, only the sideload stuff. When I choose the option "restart the boot manager" it gives me a black screen, but I noticed that it appeared in the device manager and fastboot the list in the devices. However, commands like "fastboot oem device-info" do not work. I also tried to erase the cache partition in the hope that the usb connection mode would change, but I had no luck with that.
I did a lot of Google searches on this topic, but so far I have not had any luck finding the solution. Does anyone have another idea of what I can try to control the phone or at least restore their contacts?
