unity – Tile based obstacle storage

I have been developing my first 2D platform game using the Unity tile editor. I created some sprites that I would like to use, but I'm not sure how I could add them to the game while keeping things flexible. For example, how would you store an obstacle? Would I break it in tiles and have it on my sheet? Because I would like to have obstacles bigger than the size of a piece, and I have no idea how to implement it.
