Complete uninstall of ubuntu 18.04 before reinstalling 20.04

I’ve run into some issues on Ubuntu 18.04 dual-boot when trying to install some gpu drivers and I wanted to get a clean reinstall of Ubuntu 20.04. I formated the partitions on which Ubuntu was installed via diskmgmt.msc on Windows 10 but ubuntu still appears in the boot menu and i get into GNU Grub bash-like terminal when trying to boot into it. terminal – Uninstall Vshieldscanner OSX

When I first got my Mac about 4 years ago, I thought it’d be sensible to install McAfee VShield that was offered by my network provider. Soon learned this was unnecessary and not recommended.

I can’t remember how I uninstalled it as it was four years ago. However I today deleted around 5 files from LaunchDaemons and LaunchAgents that contained reference to McAfee. I became aware of them as my Filr app highlighted that Vshieldscanner was being blocked by my administrator. Didn’t know what it was, but found out it that was part of McAfee.

Is there a way of locating where the Vshieldscanner files are located so that I can manually remove them; all visible McAfee files were deleted long ago, and the Daemon files are now all gone too.

networking – unable to uninstall shorewall from ubuntu 16

I noticed on my some servers shorewall service is installed but it’s not running.I want to uninstall it.

I executed the command sudo systemctl status shorewall to check status of shorewall and got the below output.

shorewall.service – Shorewall IPv4 firewall

Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/shorewall.service; disabled; vendor preset: enabled)

Active: inactive (dead)

Then I executed sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove shorewall command to uninstall the shorewall. After uninstalling it, I checked the status of shorewall with this command again sudo systemctl status shorewall then It’ giving output like below.

shorewall.service

Loaded: not-found (Reason: No such file or directory)

Active: inactive (dead)

Jul 08 20:24:23 ip-10-10-10-10 systemd(1): Stopped Shorewall IPv4 firewall.

Can anyone confirm please that is shorewall uninstalled successfully?, why is it giving the output like this?

installing – Module Uninstall Validators and Lazy Services

It’s a property of services classes provided by Symphony’s dependency injection framework. Per its docs on lazy services:

In some cases, you may want to inject a service that is a bit heavy to instantiate, but is not always used inside your object. For example, imagine you have a NewsletterManager and you inject a mailer service into it. Only a few methods on your NewsletterManager actually use the mailer, but even when you don’t need it, a mailer service is always instantiated in order to construct your NewsletterManager.

In other words, proxy classes are quick-loading dummy stand-ins until the actual class methods are needed to do the heavy lifting. In this specific case, the Book uninstall validator isn’t useful until it’s needed during the book module uninstall so there’s no need to fully instantiate the validator service.

malware – I did not install or uninstall anything – what are these apps?

I noticed suspicious apps on my Samsung A40 (no root) running Android 9.0:

enter image description here

What are these “numbered” apps at the bottom? These just popped up over the past few weeks, but I haven’t installed or uninstalled any apps recently. They are not displayed in the list of installed apps either. Why are they listed under apps consuming mobile data? They definitely didn’t show up there just a while ago, since I check data usage about once in a month. And how to get rid of them?

8 – Override remove entities link on module uninstall page

When a module needs to be uninstalled, Drupal adds links indicating there is content associated with the module which should be deleted first and provides a link Remove module_name entities. This works fine for most modules, however we have a complex module that needs to perform clean up, is there a way to override this link and have it invoke a custom entity deletion method?

In our case the Remove links that are automatically added to the module uninstall page, don’t end up cleaning all items, and leave the site in bad state.

Possibly related to this question asked earlier “How to remove custom module provided entity instances by the time the module being uninstalled?”
