In the classic WoD, both are definitely a NOT:
The quick chat:
Werewolf made it clear that only pure, metallic silver does aggravated damage. Silver alloys? Do not you leave silver? No. And then there are the Corax who laugh at your silver bullets but fear your gold wedding ring. Or Mokolé, who is afraid of BOTH metals. But only pure metals, not salts or alloys. Even Elektrum, a 1: 1 silver-gold alloy, is not pure enough (but for Mokolé)!
The vampire also cleans this up: it's not UV light that damages them, it's explicitly sunlight. That is, the light of Sun. The Corax have a trinket that can produce sunlight.W20 Race change p101, Mokolé knows Tame SunbeamW20 CB p146Nagah the spear of the summer sunW20 CB p163 and Simba knows a gift to enforce a rising SunBastet Breed Book p116, even at night. So: No, there are no UV rounds for aggravated damage, sunlight
There is an exception to all of these things: if a magician goes and uses Magic. So the bullet, loaded with Quintessence, can do aggravated damage, no matter what it's made of.
The W20 main book always talks about silver or silver bullet. Also p.146 "For each object made or contained
silver"- notice what it says silver not silver alloy. More about p256: "Damage inflicted by a silver weapon"- silver again, no salt or silver alloy. And the example: pack silver shrapnel not silver salt. And p259: "Silver, the lunar metal, is the great weakness of a werewolf."and then comes the real deal:
Not everything humans call "silver" contains
enough real silver to be spiritually pure enough to harm
a werewolf. Sterling silver (over 90% silver) is certainly
pure enough to be spiritually active. At the narrator's house
discretion, "Silver jewelry" (80% pure) may suffice
to affect werewolves. Argentite and Horn Silver are
made of silver and certainly not spiritually pure, nor
are compounded with "silver" in the name, including silver
nitrate, silver chloride or silver iodide. Some items may
be plated with silver, instead of being made entirely of
silver. These objects deal damage like silver.
arms, but the lining is ruined after a couple of hits.
Again, the book mentions sunlight very often, but not a single mention of UV. And then there is V20 p272:
* Aggravated: certain types of attacks are deadly
even the undead. Fire, sunlight, and teeth and
claws of vampires, werewolves and other supernaturals
beings are considered aggravated harm. "
There is no UV chin here. And then we get the real deal that counts for what when it comes to sunlight on p302:
Soak Difficulty Intensity of Light
3 Faint light coming through a closed curtain; heavy cloud cover; twilight
5 Fully protected by heavy clothes, sunglasses, gloves, and a wide-brimmed hat
7 Indirect light coming through a window or light curtains
9 Outside on a cloudy day; hit by one ray of direct light; catching the sun’s reflection in a mirror
10 Direct rays from an unobscured sun
Did you notice something here? No mention of UV. Yes, vampires in vampire: the masquerade is vulnerable to the spiritual item Sun and its light (which can be invoked by Fera, see above), not its UV light. Even reflected by the Moon no longer hurts them. It's simple old only sunlight.
the VtM Bloodlines Video Game It has a scene that revolves around a bad boy that tests the weaknesses of vampires and UV radiation is completely ineffective.
VtR (different line of play, but they share many common things) Mirrors it goes so far as to suggest that the power of daylight is so wrapped up in its symbolism that a vampire in space outside Earth's orbit would not experience even the most direct sunlight as a bad thing. – Alex P July 11 at 11:58 p.m. (in comments)
A magician doesn't care what a being is vulnerable to, as long as he can satisfy his own paradigm to channel magic. A magician simply make deal aggravated damage if you channel the powers of the Quintessence. It is a supernatural attack. If you are an Euthanatos and channel your Entropy magic through a .302 FMJ, then it causes aggravated damage. Take a look at p407:
In a metaphysics
level, such damage rips apart the Pattern that binds life
together … and it follows that Life 3 and Entropy 4
Effects deal aggravated damage by unweaving that Pattern.
And then, they pack the special ammunition on p454. Let me choose two of them. Note that the first line is a Hypertech ammo, so technically Magic linked to ammunition, and the other line is working through an old simple fire, which always does aggravated damage to most beings.north in the WoD
Ectoplasmic Disruptors 5/A Blasts spirit entities and vampires with aggravated damage explosion; normal damage to physical beings.
Incendiary Rounds 4/A Phosphorus – ignites in air when fired; inflict two dice aggravated damage for one turn after they hit; ignite flammable objects.
And then again, p 504:
- Violent damage: effects of the mental sphere.
Damage: Most other sphere effects.
- Aggravated damage: any sphere
when loaded with Prime 2 and a Quintessence point.
N – Probably the only beings who laugh at fire are ethereal as spirits in unmanifested form or have a specific defense against it as fire spirits.
