samsung – Is it safe to manually “clear cache” of apps on Android?

Ever since I updated Device Care on my Samsung Galaxy A10s running Android Pie, I lost my “Clear Space” option that clears unnecessary data, including cache of all apps including system apps on my phone!

Since, I’m not installing any third party apps, for this purpose, I decided to manually “clear cache” of any desired apps from Settings > Apps > App name and tapping Clear Cache. To my surprise, I found the Gallery app has about half a GB of cache, and I immediately cleared it.

I realize that apps cache stuff to improve performance, predict data to auto fill on text boxes, and various other stuff, to improve user experience. But that’s taking up a lot of my Internal memory!

My question is :

  • Is this a safe practice?

  • Will this procedure damage the executable or normal functioning of my app?

  • Or, whether all these are dependent on the App developer / manufacturer ?

  • For default apps like Gallery or Chrome is this a safe practice?

Samsung Grand Prime+ SM-G532F (8 GB)is showing false lowstorage

My Samsung Grand Prime+ (SM-G532F) (8 GB)is showing false storage. From ‘settings->Device Maintenance->Storage-> Storage settings’: ‘system memory’ is 4.45 Gb, and ‘used space’ is 3 Gb,’other’226 Mb,’cached’166 Mb,(Total 7.68 Gb)’Available Space’322 Mb. Whereas, another view shows: Documents 46.74 Mb, Images 138 Mb,Audio 0, video 158 Mb, Applications 320 Mb (Total 665.74 Mb). if we add 4.45 Gb of ‘System Memory’, Total used space should be 5.1 Gb and the remaining space should be 2.55 Gb, BUT it is shown as 225 Mb ONLY… Only default/stock apps are installed. I have made factory reset yesterday, and i was happy to see 3 Gb FREE SPACE.But after software update of 220 Mb, and updates of few stock apps (YouTube,Google Play Services, etc.), around 1 Gb more consumed, and 2 Gb FREE SPACE left. Surprisingly, when i saw mobile after few hours, it was again showing a meager space of around 200 Mb left…

samsung galaxy s 10 – Cannot export image from app

I have an app from with Samsung S10. It does not work to “export image”. I tried tell them but they lied to me and said that it works. I try again to understand what must be done, if the bug is with me or with them.

networking – How to modify CSC file of samsung sm-j500fn?

My phone origin is the UK and I am in Sri Lanka now. My phone modemst1, modemst2 were reset and also I forgot to backup.

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/modemst1

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/modemst2

After reset it has asked to unlock the network.
I’ve tried many solutions such as flashing stock ROM of UK before I had custom rom(arrow os), zx3 tool pro. I could not do it. I don’t plan to buy a code since I think, It can be recovered.
I think it can be done via modifying the CSC file since it is specific to geographical region and carriers and it contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and APN setting but I don’t have enough knowledge to modify the CSC file.
Another possible solution may be flashing the living country CSC file but I could not find CSC file only for my j5nlte phone with Sri Lanka.
Can anyone suggest how to modify the CSC file or provide any solutions to unlock the network in my device?
Thanks in advance………

android sdk – Is the CPU of Samsung Galaxy A10s 64 bit or 32 bit?

I really wanted to know the CPU word length of Samsung Galaxy A10s, running Android Pie. In the first appearance it looks like it has a 64 bit processor, since, it uses the MediaTek Helios P22 chipset, but I dont think apps/programs running in user space have access to 64 bit instructions etc. . Even __aarch64__ is undefined. The OS identifies it as ARM 7 and hence it cannot use AES instruction sets and other features. If it were the ARM Cortex A53 mentioned by MediaTek Helios P22 it should have an ARM architecture of 8.

  • Is this because the Kernel is 32 bit ?
  • Or is the Android permissions blocking it ?
  • How can I identify my Kernel is a 32 bit or 64 bit ?

Please do correct me, if I am wrong !?

Every help will be greatly appreciated!

instant messaging – Samsung Chat Service Privacy

I’m trying to find out privacy settings behind the wifi chat offered by… Samsung? Its built into my S10e as an additional chat service with little to no information about it. It’s free and enables chat over WiFi and to groups of users who have the feature enabled. It also enables Android users to see when others who have the service are typing like on the iPhone.

My concern is privacy. If it’s free, how do I know that I’m not the product here?

The Stack Exchange app won’t let me upload a 256KiB image so I’ve added a URL for the screenshot: screenshot of new messages feature

rooting – Unlock bootloader of Samsung Tab A 9.7 SM-T555

Here it comes a long intro of what I want to achieve and what I tried. You can jump to the end for the actual questions.

The internal storage of my Tab is full, so I bought an SD card. Unfortunately, Samsung does not allow me to format it as internal storage. So I tried to do it via adb shell, but it did not work. I checked whether I could instruct Whatsapp to store media files on the external SD card, but did not find a way. I also moved Whatsapp to the SD card, but it continued to store media files on the internal storage. So I decided to root the Tab in order to move the whatsapp folder to the SD card and create a soft link to it. I decided to use Odin and CF Auto Root for that, since it seems the simplest and less intrusive way to achieve what I want. But then I saw the bootloader should be unlocked. I did not find a way to check the status of the bootloader (tried the dialing trick and going into “downloading” mod). And I do not have an “OEM unlocking” option under “Developer options”. I tried doing the trick of changing the date to make the OEM-unlock option visible, but it did not work. Then I read some people say that if I do not have that option, my bootloader should be unlocked. But I do not know if I can trust that information. I also saw it might be possible to unlock the bootloader with Superboot, but it seems to be a very old tool, so I cannot find a working link to download it and, moreover, I do not know if I can trust it to work with my Tab.

Can someone please confirm that my bootloader should indeed be unlocked if I do not have the OEM-unlocking option visible? Or could someone tell me how can I unlock my bootloader or ultimately achieve what I want to do (i.e., fool Whatsapp into storing media files on the external sd card)?

wi fi – Samsung S9- how to disable automatic WiFI connecting?

When your android S9 phone has already once connected to a WiFI network, it automatically saves the password/SSID and will connect to that WiFI everytime when you turn on WiFI on your phone.

Is it somehow possible to force android not to connect automatically to any saved WiFI network? It can still save WiFI passwords, but I like to manually click on the WiFI network, only then it should connect. Maybe there are multiple wifi networks in the same area and I would like to prevent it from connecting automatically to any of them, I should decide everytime to which one I like to connect.
