spells – Honor of a lion

Some spells look at the honor of the target to determine effect. For example, Water 2 has a healing spell called Heaven’s TearsBook of Water p.181 that only heals Honor 4.0 and up, while harming any tainted person.

Now, what the spell does to a Matsu BeastmasterGreat Clans p.136 is known: his honor rank rules that. But what about his trusty lion companion? Does he get his own honor rank or uses the one of his master or none at all?

hard drive – Reinstalling Mac OSX Lion on Locked Disk

I have a 2011 vintage MacBook Pro which is not booting at all. It gets to the gray screen with Apple logo and does not move ahead from there. I pressed Command-R at bootup to enter the disk utility screen.

  • I ran the disk check utility on the HDD and it returned OK for all checks.
  • The verify/repair disk option for the boot drive was greyed out.

When I try to re-install MacOSX Lion by using the internet, it gets to a screen where both the disks to install MacOSX on are greyed out and there is an error message that says “This disk is locked”. I went through this question that suggests re-formatting the hard drive to create a new partition and re-trying.

My questions:

  • Are there any other options I can try without needing to reformat the hard drive?
  • Is there a way to back up the hard drive before I try the above?
  • In the Disk Utility section, the boot drive was greyed out disallowing any repair. Any reasons why?

pathfinder 1e – Applying templates to lion shaman Wildshape

I have a level 11 Lion Shaman druid. I like to wildshape into lion forms for obvious reasons… he’s into lions.

So for lion shamans, my level 11 guy can shape into lions like a level 13 druid. I believe that kind of maxes out with huge animals with Beast Shape III.

Is there a way I can apply different templates to this lion, like giant for instance, to maximize my wildshape capabilities?

macos – Will a virtualised copy of Mountain Lion run Adobe apps of its era well enough for general use?

My father runs an old version of MacOS, I believe Mountain Lion, with a full set of Adobe apps, Suitcase Fusion, and so on from back when they were all ‘buy-once’ products. Reading around, almost none of it is likely to run on the latest version of MacOS without serious issues.

The OS’s age has become a problem for almost everything else – the latest browsers won’t run so more and more websites are unusable, and most downloadable software simply won’t install (we had to dual-boot it with the highest OS that the hardware supports just to allow him to do iPad sync).

I’ve read that it should be possible to buy a newer Mac and run a virtualised copy of Mountain Lion in something like Parallels. Presumably it would then be possible to transplant an image of his old boot drive to be able to run the creative software.

Is there any reason that doing so might not be a good option? And can anyone comment on how well old Adobe apps run inside a VM, both in terms of performance and potential compatibility issues?

(The creative software is the main thing he uses the Mac for, so if it’s going to be sluggish or painful to use in practice then maybe a different plan would be better.)

mountain lion – “no bootable device” – insert boot disk and press any key

I inserted Mountain Lion on an iMac A1225 having new formatted HDD. When I boot holding the ⌥ alt-key, it shows Mountain Lion (install disk) as option. When I press enter-key to confirm, it came with “no bootable device” but if I boot holding “C” it boot Mountain Lion normally. Now with the new OS installed, the iMac still gives “no bootable device” at start up

macpro 5,1 mid 2010 cannot boot to Mojave from Mountain Lion?

I have two work flows, one uses Mountain Lion, the other uses Mojave. So ideally I would like to be able to easily switch between the two boot drives I have whenever I need to.

When I have booted from Mojave, I can choose system preferences -> startup disk, and then my Mountain Lion drive is there, and I can select it and boot from it.

However, when I boot from Mountain Lion, it says “the disk you inserted was unreadable” and there is no option to choose it from the system preference’s -> startup disk.

Many resources online say “hold down option when booting and select your boot drive”… This does not seem to work for me. When I hold option down, it does not present any options for drives and just continues to boot Mountain Lion… How can I do this without the annoyance of having to physically remove the drive I don’t want to boot?

macos – Error Installing Lion MAC OS on my Mac/book Pro Early 2011

Background: I purchased an old Mac Book Pro early 2011, It came with High sierra installed. Unfortunately I leave the mac on without the power cable, the mac entered into hibernation mode and eventually the battery ran out. When I tried to turn the mac on, the OS did not start.

The problem: My Mac Book does not boot, not even on safe mode, I tried to Re install the entire OS but the installation never finish, just when the installation is about the 90% the mac reboots.

Things I tried:

  1. Using recovery mode to install the OS: I can access to the recovery mode, even the disk utility, but the mac reboots when the installation is about to finish.
  2. Used internet recovery, same happen.
  3. Reseting the NvRam and SMC did not solve the problem.
  4. Tried with the Bootable USB, did not solve the problem.
  5. I also tried installing Ubuntu with a bootable USb but never started, happened the same, the OS did not started and the mac rebooted.

In summary all the solutions always take me to the same place, when the installation is about to finish, the mac reboots and the installation never fully completed.

I noticed there are a lot of errors in the console log of the installation:
