twrp – GApps Not Showing After Install

I flash LineageOS then immediately GApps without rebooting into OS then GApps proceeds without error but no show after install. I will try different zips especially when LOS builds afresh. I am using Lineage Recovery. Would TWRP be worth a try?

I previously installed TWRP & have used partitions flash for A/B recovery. I had a TWRP boot-loop as I installed TWRP wrong. I was starting afresh with official LOS guide for Lake. I imagine a little knowledge is dangerous & maybe I totally screwed something up…

rpm – How do I properly create new directories if they don’t exist, and then copy files into them on the target install device?

I’m trying to accomplish the following steps with the below rpm code:

  1. Copy files into an rpm package from device A (host server or development server) using rpmbuild -ba foo.spec
  2. The rpm package is built and manually transferred/downloaded to the root folder of the target: device B
  3. Install the rpm package on device B using: rpm -i test.rpm
  4. A directory is created /usr/local/etc/NS/enrich/*…etc during the install by the rpm package on device B
  5. The files (source1 through source 4) are then copied into the respective directory on device B.

My code currently does not do this, but I don’t understand why.

Name: test
Version: 0.1
Release: 0
Summary: This RPM is for transfering foo lists to a Test device.
License: TODO
Source0: foo_foov4.csv
Source1: foo_foov6.csv
Source2: foos_approved.csv
Source3: s_all_foos_enriched.csv
Source4: s_foo_foobar.csv

Test Build 0.1

#copy the files
cp -p %{SOURCE0} .
cp -p %{SOURCE1} .
cp -p %{SOURCE2} .

adb – Xiaomi M8SE Fastboot loop when trying to install TWRP

When trying to install TWRP (latest version for Xiaomi Mi 8SE) I manage to install the newest TWRP using adb (fastboot flash recovery “C:Program Files (x86)Minimal ADB and Fastboottwrp.img).
However, once I boot into TWRP, it does not set it as a default loader.
After wiping the data, and trying to reboot in recovery like here : it simply reboots into fastboot and from there, I cannot do anything anymore.
I then have to install a chinese developer version using MiFlash.

Can someone help me with this issue? I am trying to install a MIUI 11 version for my better half – she is tired of the chinese ROM and half of the OS being in Chinese…

20.04 – How can I install ubuntu’s ambiance theme in ubuntu 20.04lts?

You can install the light-themes package from the universe repo to get the Ambiance and Radiance themes. To do that, run the following command in Terminal

sudo apt install light-themes

For the icons, install the Humanity icon theme (should be installed by default anyway) by running

sudo apt install humanity-icon-theme

Then you can use (GNOME) Tweaks to switch to your preferred theme.

How do I install libGLU1 in cygwin?

I am trying to install VirtialGL in Cygwin.

I ran into the following

Problem 1/1
nothing provides libGLU1 needed by VirtualGL-2.6.3-20191024
Solution 1/1 (default)
  - do not ask to install VirtualGL-2.6.3-20191024

I am not able to find libGLU1 even if I try to install libGLU1 prior to installing VirtualGL.

Any suggestions on how to install libGLU1 in cygwin will be of great help!

Install an older version of MacOS onto an external drive without USB installer?

I want to install Mojave onto an external drive, using a Mac that has Catalina as its current OS. The Mac is old enough to run Mojave.

A specific form of this question has been asked before, to which the answer is “create a USB installer disk”.

I’m wondering if it might be possible without this workaround. Firstly, it requires the purchase of a USB stick. Catalina now requires just slightly more than 8GB, so I need a 16 GB stick at least. Admittedly, these are cheap and plentiful.

But I already have loads of 8GB sticks and the alternative to buying another bit of hardware is to sacrifice a 500 GB USB drive, which I already have, to become an installer medium.

However, creating an installer disk involves the createinstallmedia command line tool inside the MacOS installer app bundle. There are also several other tools, including: startosinstall, which yields the following info:

Usage: startosinstall

--license, prints the user license agreement only.
--agreetolicense, agree to the license you printed with --license.
--rebootdelay, how long to delay the reboot at the end of preparing. This delay is in seconds and has a maximum of 300 (5 minutes).
--pidtosignal, Specify a PID to which to send SIGUSR1 upon completion of the prepare phase. To bypass "rebootdelay" send SIGUSR1 back to startosinstall.
--installpackage, the path of a package (built with productbuild(1)) to install after the OS installation is complete; this option can be specified multiple times.
--eraseinstall, (Requires APFS) Erase all volumes and install to a new one. Optionally specify the name of the new volume with --newvolumename.
--newvolumename, the name of the volume to be created with --eraseinstall.
--preservecontainer, preserves other volumes in your APFS container when using --eraseinstall.
--usage, prints this message.

The internals of the tool suggests that there’s also a --volume flag to set the target drive, but using that option just flags a usage error.

While there’s nothing entirely helpful here, and I can’t find any other usage options for the several other tools in the app bundle, I’m still hopeful that there’s a way of doing this via the command line.

So I thought I’d ask, even if it’s just to get a confirmatory “No; duplicate”, because the benefits to the community of getting a method would be large.

boot – Getting attempt to read or write outside of disk “hd0” after install

After installing 20.04 I keep getting the error message attempt to read or write outside of disk “hd0” Entering rescue mode…

I have done a lot of reading on this and have tried all of the given solutions and none of them have worked. I have even loaded the Ubuntu LiveCd and run the Boot Rescue program and I still get the error.

The machine is a Dell R710 with a H700 Raid Controller with six 3TB HDDs in a Raid 50 configuration and I’m using all but ~500MB.

I also know that this is an Ubuntu install issue as I can load Windows 10 and have absolutely no errors. I have also tried installing 14.xx and I get the same error.

What am I missing???
