Wireless charging: Sony abandoned the Qi project?

The premium smartphones of the Sony brand had wireless charging (Qi), namely the Xperia XZ2 and XZ3 models.

None of the new Xperia 10, Xperia 5 models and the new flagship Xperia 1 support wireless charging.

Sony is listed in the Wireless Energy Consortium, but is not on the list of Members of the Steering Group.

Does this mean that Sony has abandoned the wireless charging of its smartphones?

How to start charging iPhone from the sleeping MacBook

When i connect my iPhone 7 (iOS 12.4.1) to me Macbook Pro (Retina, 15 inches, mid 2015) (macOS Mojave 10.14.6),

it seems that the iPhone does not start charging until

  • the MacBook is unlocked (upon waking it and entering the password)
  • or the password / touchID of the iPhone is entered.

Not sure about the details, but from what I can say

  • iPhone does not start charging unless MacBook is awake

Imagine that my MacBook is lying, with the lid closed, on the desk.

If I connect my iPhone through the USB cable, I want it to start charging.

I don't want to have to do anything else.

How can I configure my devices to make this possible?

charging – Does MacBook Pro Retina end of 2013 slow down with a 65W charger?

I own macbookpro retina 15 & # 39; at the end of 2013, and I bought it used on the web 2 months ago. Just 4 days ago, I was working with 2 external displays and a Blackmagic Thunderbold mini-recorder and Mac power ran out at 0% even though the AC adapter was connected. In addition to this, sometimes the Mac becomes very slow (when I pass through the icons on the dock, the magnifying glass is very uneven) and the kernel_task process takes more than 200% of the CPU usage. After this, I discovered that the AC charger had 65W instead of 85W and bought a new one with 85W.
Can the wrong AC adapter be the cause of the Mac slowdown? It happened even though the CPU temperature (monitored with "Macs fan control") did not exceed 85 °.
Since I bought a new 85W AC adapter, I have not had problems with the slowdown, but I would like to be sure that the problem is the adapter.
Thank you

Mobile logon charging time – User experience stack exchange

The trivial answer is "as fast as possible".

The NNGroup user experience research group has relevant information about loading times. The most relevant for your situation is probably the following.

The 3 response time limits are the same as when I wrote about them in 1993 (based on a 40-year research conducted by pioneers of human factors):

  • 0.1 second It gives the sensation of an instant response, that is, the result seems to have been caused by the user, not by the computer. This level of response is essential to support the sensation of direct manipulation (direct manipulation is one of the key GUI techniques to increase user participation and control; for more information, see our User Interface Principles that Each designer should know).

  • 1 second Maintains the user's flow of thought without interruption. Users may feel a delay and, therefore, know that the computer is generating the result, but they still feel that they have control of the overall experience and that they move freely instead of waiting on the computer. This degree of response is necessary for good navigation.

  • 10 seconds Maintains user attention. From 1 to 10 seconds, users definitely feel at the mercy of the computer and want it to be faster, but they can handle it. After 10 seconds, they start thinking about other things, which makes it hard for their brains to work again once the computer finally responds.

Given this, I would say shoot for 0.1 seconds, but 1 second is fine too. More time than that, the user should be kept as informed as possible about what the system is busy with.

If possible, status tags that are significantly updated with several stages (for example, "Send data to a third-party authorization service", "Waiting for response", "Loading profile") can be a good way to mitigate part of the pain of long loading times.

If this is normal, they automatically charge a late renewal fee in addition to all other charges. And they still put all the late domains in an auction.

  2. I saw that some registrars get an additional fee after the expiration date (within the grace period of renewal). But there is no rule like this and it depends on the registrar. You can go to another registrar.

Charging – Qualcomm Quick Charge and Samsung Note 10

I am planning to update my phone and I have many QC 3.0 chargers and a QC power bank. Now I see that all major producers get their own patented fast-charging technology.
My question is if I will buy Samsung Note 10 (not Plus if necessary). Do I need to use a special Samsung charger to get a load of more than 10 W (5 V 2 A)? I do not see this model in the Qualcomm Quick Charge Device List, but it is ridiculous to me, if there is no compatibility with previous versions between the quality control of older Samsung phones and the latest generation.

When charging a Canon G7X Mark II with USB, do you really need a special cable?

Manufacturers are known to warn the owners of their products that the use of something other than their own parts and accessories will cause the end of the known universe. This is not only true for camera manufacturers, but also for electronics manufacturers in general. It is true for car manufacturers. It is true for appliance manufacturers. It is true for rechargeable battery manufacturers ("Do not use with any charger other than the one supplied with our product").

However, in many cases, "official" OEM parts and accessories are manufactured by external companies under contract with the brand under which they are sold. Those same suppliers also sell similar or even identical products (other than brand labels) under their own nameplate or to other companies that market them. There is often no functional difference between the OEM and third-party products.

A USB cable is quite simple and there is an accepted standard for the design and performance of such a cable with a micro-usb interface (USB 2.0 micro-B 5-pin) on one end and a normal USB (Type USB 2.0 A) connector in the other one. Ferrite traps may or may not be added to protect the cable from interference from other nearby electrical devices. In the case of using only the cable to charge a battery, the ferrite trap is an unnecessary addition.

You can use any cable that meets the USB standard and the necessary connectors to charge your camera's battery. Just make sure it is plugged into a standard USB 2.0 port that does not supply more than the standard 5V at 0.5 Amps. This is true whether you use the official OEM part of Canon IFC-600PCU or a generic cable.

Where it might be necessary to be a little more careful is in the case of a charger that transforms the wall current to a specific DC voltage and amperage. In such a case, it would be wise to ensure that an external charger is supplying the correct voltage, current and polarity to the device, such as a camera.

charging: the LG V20 is charged only in a cable orientation

I have been charging my LG V20 for more than a year with the charger and cable supplied. I recently received the fast load message disabled. No big deal, so I didn't care. But today, the phone only charges in one orientation (normal, not fast charging) of the USB connector / charging port. If I turn the connector to the other side, the phone does not charge at all.

Again, the same cable, the same adapter but there is a decrease in charging performance. Any reason why you need a new cable? Could you be looking for a cargo port repair?

Battery: Do fast charging technologies wear out batteries faster?

There are many fast charging technologies out there, now seemingly reaching 120 W, which can supposedly:

… capable of fully charging the battery of a 4,000 mAh phone in just 13 minutes …

Now I am not an expert in physics or materials technologies, but thinking intuitively to increase the effect (without changing the input current) could cause long-term battery wear, assuming the batteries catch fire first.

I was wondering if there is any information available, regarding how well batteries are maintained in the long term, with these new high-power charging solutions.
