Google Calendar alerts in Chrome browser, a Time Zone discrepancy

I just received this alert in Chrome browser from my Google Calendar:

enter image description here

I’m signed into the same Google user account in both the Chrome browser, and my Google Calendar online.

As you can see, it says that something is in “1h” (one hour), but as you can also clearly see, 7pm (the event’s start time) is 2 hours away from the current time (5pm. It was 5:02pm when I took the screenshot) on my Windows 10 PC.

There are my Google Calendar Time Zone settings:

enter image description here

Strangely, in the options, there’s only Mountain Standard Time (MST) available. No Mountain Daylight Time (MDT).

I thought that Google might be ignoring MDT and giving me the alert as if it were MST. But that doesn’t make sense either. Because even in that case, both times (on my PC, and the time for the event) would still be 2 hours apart and it should still say that the event is going to happen in 2 hours.

Thoughts?

javascript – Modal JS not working in Chrome for Calendar CEWP

On a site page, I have a Calendar CEWP and the following JS in a script editor. The calendar events pop up in a modal in IE but they do not in Chrome. Can anyone identify why it is not working in Chrome? thanks so much.

<script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery-3.6.0.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function () {
    $("a(href*='DispForm.aspx')").each(function () {
        $(this).attr("onclick", "openDialog('" + $(this).text() + "','" + $(this).attr("href") + "')");
        $(this).attr("href", "javascript:void(0)");
        $(this).removeAttr("target");
    });
});

function openDialog(title, url) {
    var options = {
        title: "Calendar - " + title,
        autoSize:true,
        url: url
    };
    ExecuteOrDelayUntilScriptLoaded(function () {
        SP.UI.ModalDialog.showModalDialog(options);
    }, "sp.js")
}
</script>

mail.app – iCalendar (.ics) attachment can’t be added in Gmail app to Apple Calendar

.ics attached can be viewed in Gmail app, but there are no button to add it to Apple Calendar.

Gmail image:

In Mail app the window looks same but has buttons to add the event:

Also there is no option to share the attachment into the Calendar directly.
I see that Gmail app parsed the event info, but even with Google Calendar installed I can not do anything with it. I have these options in Gmail app on Android.

Why is that and is there another easy option to import this event without Apple Mail?
It’s Google who did not code this feature or Apple’s restriction?

Edit: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251135443 no answer to “why”.

javascript – Opening Calendar Event in Modal – Not Working in Chrome

I am using the following script to open 3events in a Calendar Web Part in a modal/pop up. It works in IE but not in Chrome and I have been unable to modify it to work in both browsers. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

<script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.12.4.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
 <script type="text/javascript">
 $(document).ready(function () {
    $("a(href*='DispForm.aspx')").each(function () {
        $(this).attr("onclick", "openDialog('" + $(this).text() + "','" + $(this).attr("href") + "')");
        $(this).attr("href", "javascript:void(0)");
        $(this).removeAttr("target");
    });
});

function openDialog(title, url) {
    var options = {
        title: "Calendar - " + title,
        autoSize:true,
        url: url
    };
    ExecuteOrDelayUntilScriptLoaded(function () {
        SP.UI.ModalDialog.showModalDialog(options);
    }, "sp.js")
}
</script>

homebrew – Cannot find todo and apts in the $HOME directory for `calcurse` open source calendar application

I just installed calcurse, an calendar open source solution (which looks great!). I installed version calcurse version 4.7.1 via homebrew

This might not be a bug but I unfortunately can’t find the answer elswhere: I cannot find where the todo and apts are located. In $HOME/.config/calcurse I could find

conf   hooks/ keys

but neither todo nor apts

The other location where brew installed things is in /usr/local/Cellar/calcurse/4.7.1. But there I could not find the file neither

Those files probably exist somewhere because, I imported several time appointments from a .ics file and I have (several) duplicates of those appointments. I searched for similar problems but didn’t find any

How can I locate those files (todo and apts)?

Many thanks in advance!

iPhone calendar list view error when in different time zone

In Calendar settings, Time Zone overide is on (set to home time zone).
Under General settings, Date and Time is “Set Automatically” (Time Zone changes to maintain local time).

If I move to a diffrent time zone, the time zone under General Setting for Date & Time, changes to appropriately display the local time.
The Time Zone under Calendar Settings correctly remains set to the home time zone because Time Zone Override is set to “on”.

In List view the calendar dates change to one day early. The dates are correct in Day view.

When I return to my home time zone, the list view changes to display the correct day.

I can re-create the problem at home by manually changing the time zone under the “General | Date & Time setting”.

It appears to be a problem when Calendar time zone and the clock time zone are not the same.

Recurrence making it hard to get today’s calendar events via Python

I’m using python to pull the day’s events. However, events set up with recurrences still appear in the result list incorrectly. So, events for one day appear fine on their days, but things like “first friday of the month” will be returned in the list of events every day even if it isn’t the first friday of the month. I’m looking for a way to filter them out of my event list and have them only appear on the correct days.

I’m using this python library: Office365-REST-Python-Client

import os
from office365.runtime.auth.user_credential import UserCredential
from office365.sharepoint.client_context import ClientContext
from office365.sharepoint.listitems.caml.caml_query import CamlQuery
from office365.sharepoint.views.view_scope import ViewScope

user_credentials = UserCredential( username, password )
ctx = ClientContext(mysiteurl).with_credentials(user_credentials)
calendar = ctx.web.lists.get_by_title("Team Calendar")

query = """
<Where>
      <DateRangesOverlap>
         <FieldRef Name="EventDate" />
         <FieldRef Name="EndDate" />
         <FieldRef Name="RecurrenceID" />
         <Value IncludeTimeValue="False" Type="DateTime">
            <Today />
         </Value>
      </DateRangesOverlap>
</Where>
"""
cq = CamlQuery.parse(query)
items=calendar.get_items(caml_query = cq).execute_query()
for item in items:
   print(item.properties("Title"))

Is there a better CAML Query to use? In some discussions I see a query option to expand the recurrences. Can I do that here? Is there a better python library to use?

Thanks in advance.

calendar – How do I keep iCloud from clobbering my data?

Everytime I activate iCloud on my old macPro (OS 10.11.6) it erases all my local Calendar entries and I have to spend the day restoring from Time Machine. I have never put my Keychain data into the cloud or upgraded my Notes for fear of losing critical data in the process and of losing control of that data. Unfortunately it looks like there is no way to migrate certain Keychains to a new machine (OS 11.4) without using the iCloud service.

I figured there would be a way to clear the already uploaded iCloud Calendars so there would be nothing on the cloud side to replace the local data as it syncs, but cannot find a way to do that.

How do you activate iCloud and migrate critical data (specifically local keychains and calendars) to a new machine in a way that assures the data on the original machine is in no way threatened or lost in the process?
