microsoft outlook – Getting Yellow Bar advertisements in Office 2016 for Free Trial of Office 365

I am getting yellow bar ads now displaying in my licensed Office 2016 Home and Business products- notably Word 2016 and Outlook 2016. I do not use Office 365. The ads were occurring once a month, but now seem to be occurring more frequently. I cannot find anything on the web about how to turn them off. If anyone has any ideas – I would greatly appreciate it. Recent example I got in Outlook 2016

macos – What’s this icon in menu bar on Macbook Pro?

Does anyone know what’s this icon to the left of battery status in the menu bar? It looks like binoculars.

enter image description here

This appears only on lock screen, and disappears as soon as I login (either through TouchID or entering the password). Clicking on that while the screen is locked doesn’t help.

If it helps, this is a MacBook Pro with TouchBar (2017 model) and is running macOS Catalina 10.15.6.

I’ve been using this laptop for more than 2 years but this started appearing only 3-4 days ago.

Thanks

How can i add search bar above dropdown menu on Google Forms?

notification bar – Android 10, sloppy status bar icons [Nokia 5.3]

I’ve just bought a Nokia 5.3 but the status bar icons look pretty sloppy (e.g. the roaming “R” is huge, the 4G one looks just like Android 2.3 and the WiFi doesn’t show the small 4 or 5). Moreover, the signal icon for the second SIM card (the one roaming) is not even properly aligned to the other one.

the weird status bar icons

During the very first boot, I noticed that the WiFi icon looked just fine. However, as soon as I set up the wifi the phone detected and installed the latest updates and after rebooting this issue appeared.

Any ideas on how to address this pretty annoying issue?

I’ve already tried with a factory reset, but it did not help.

9.0 pie – Remove Google Search Bar from LG W10 Alpha running Android 9

I have a LG W10 Alpha running Android 9. I think it’s close to stock Android.

I tried various suggested ways to remove the search bar on the home screen but none of them seem to work.

  1. Go to Apps -> Google -> Disable. There isn’t such an option at all. Only Force Stop is available in Apps -> Google

  2. Long Press & drag the the search bar to Remove. Long Press doesn’t allow you to drag or show the Remove option.

Didn’t find any other option to remove the search bar either.

Are there any other ways which will work with Android 9 running on the LG W10 Alpha?

If not, which Custom Launcher should I install to remove it? I am pretty much happy with the default launcher & am not looking for any new feature with a custom launcher. So I would prefer a Custom Launcher which is really lightweight & works more or less like the default launcher except it allows me to remove the Search Bar. Any suggestions?

macbook pro – Adjust the brightness level of touch bar

I can’t find anyway to adjust brightness level of touch bar on my mbp 2017 with macOS High Sierra. Perhaps it can be changed by adjusting values in SMC?

I have a different hardware model and macOS version so I asked another question. Please tell me if this is a duplicate question with How can I adjust Touch Bar brightness?.

Am I able to move the launch bar from the left side of the desktop to the bottom in ubuntu 14.04 LTS

I am using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS OS and would like to move the launcher bar to the bottom of the desktop. Is this possible? I am new to Linux and presume that i will need to use terminal commands to do this. If so please provide those commands.

terminology – Is there a name for this kind of mini-game? (cursor moves on a bar, press key in part of the bar to win)

Today I played a game which has a mini-game in it, basically it looks like this:

here’s a bar:

----------=====----------

and a cursor moves back and forth on it:

-|--------=====----------  ( cursor "|" moves in this direction -> )

-----|----=====----------

----------===|=----------

----------=====---------| ( when the cursor reaches the end, it goes back <-)

If I hit a key when the cursor is on the specific part of the bar (which I used the “=” sign to represent), I win. Otherwise I lose.

This kind of mini-game is pretty common as I’ve seen many variant of it in a lot of games, yet I don’t know the name of it. Does it have a name? What’s the origin of it?
