sql server: SQL work steps history to show DML changes

One provider provided a script to run with many DML statements and dump it into a stored procedure to execute it from a SQL job. When running the script through SSMS, it returns the affected row counts after passing through each DML declaration as "update". How can I quickly get row counts to appear in the SQL job step or to dump them into a text file through the work step without configuring @@ rowcounts after each of the DML statements?
