Show files starting with a dot in Finder

This answer from 2011 doesn’t work for me:

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles true
killall Finder

I still can’t see .DS_Store for example, .localized, ._. etc

cmd shift . also doesn’t work.
