Redirect Apache to Tomcat or Nginx to Tomcat to serve JSP

I have a web application based on Java, Spring, Hibernate, JPA and JSP and now I have a VPS with Debian that I will use to build my server. I installed Vesta Control Panel to make it easier for a newbie like me.
Vesta comes with Nginx + Apache installed but I have installed Tomcat to serve my JSP. I have a redirect from Nginx to Tomcat directly, but now I want to know how is the best way to build that:

  1. Redirecting Nginx to Tomcat directly.
  2. Redirecting Nginx to Apache and then Apache to Tomcat.

I want to understand why one way is better and not the other.
Thank you.
