So, I have this Dell Server running ESXi 6.5 with around 15 running VMs.
The host server has 2 x Intel Xeon CPUs Silver 4210 (so, 2 x 10 cores x 2 sockets) summing up 40 logical cores.
I have set up this one VM that I know will be super CPU intensive, the other not so much. I’ve configured it to have 20 vCPUs, and I also set the vCPU frequency to unlimited.
This particular VM always almost always uses 100% of its vCPU allocation, and I’m confused why the host displays a 100% CPU frequency usage in which I’ve only set around half of the total logical CPU count? Is this okay? How will this affect the other 14 VMs with only 1-2 vCPUs each? Thanks!
