javascript: return the null value of a constructor in a React class

I have seen this in a code base:

The MyComponent class extends React.Component {

constructor (accessories) {

if (! props.value) return null

this.state = {

value: props.value

}

}
....

}

This is a React component.

I wonder what could happen if you come back early in the constructor.

Would the component be instantiated? Can this cause problems?
