In my past experience (with some hosts) I have always found rsync available. I just migrated to a host and asked about shell, but I did not specifically ask about rsync because I assumed it was a fact. It's pretty standard in Linux. I assumed he would be there if he had access to the shell.
It turns out that it is not available and I wonder if this is common and why. Is there a security problem or some other reason that you are not seeing?
Afaico I can not do anything worse with rsync than with having ssh already (they give freely) so I'm not sure why to block it. This particular host is CloudLinux / cpanel and my ssh is an imprisoned bash.
Any thoughts and experiences with this?
