dnd 5e – Can an element resist the identification spell?

There is nothing in the text of the spell to identify that allows an article not to be identified:

You choose an object that you must touch during the casting of the spell. If it is a magical object or some other object imbued with magic, you learn its properties and how to use them, if it requires tuning to use them and how many positions it has, if applicable. You learn if a spell is affecting the object and what they are. If the item was created by a spell, it will learn what spell created it.

The problem is that it only works with magical objects. If the book you found is not magical (test detect magic to be sure) then identify it will not work
