computer vision: use of colors in function detection

Is there a feature detector or extractor that uses color information?

Detectors such as SURF and SIFT and many others work with grayscale. How do you think you can demand a transformation to generate a grayscale image without losing color information but suitable for those algorithms?

In particular, I need to distinguish objects in a similar way, but of a different color. And, in general, color provides more information about objects and allows them to be classified with better performance, which is why we have color vision.
